February Guest Designer

A big thank you to Jenni Smith, our guest designer this month!

Here's her bio and designs....

Hi there! My name is Jenni and I am 27 years old. I live in northern California with my husband of 6 ½ years, and two little boys, both of whom are my main scrapping subjects. I started scrapbooking about 4 years ago, right around the time my first son was born. I wanted to find a way to preserve and record the memories of our family and found scrapbooking to be the perfect answer! My favorite scrapping supplies right now are chipboard, journaling spots and stamps, and some of my favorite manufacturers include Scenic Route, KI Memories, Maya Road and American Crafts. As I scrap, I will often be caught with a handful of Mike and Ikes or chocolate near by. When I’m not scrapping, I can be found running or working out, baking, reading, shopping, or spending time with my family. I have recently had several layouts published in the online magazine “Ready, Set, Create!”, and am looking forward to having one published in the upcoming March 2008 issue of “Scrapbook Trends”. I am so excited to have this chance to be a guest designer this month for Sugar Dumplin!

Here are her instructions for the double layout:
Materials
All items for this layout are from the Sugar Dumplin February 2008 Original kit, except for the following:
1. Chipboard letters-light blue (Heidi Swapp)
2. Self-inking dotted stamp (7 Gypsies)
3. Precision pen-brown (American Crafts)
4. Thread (black)
5. Photos-6 B&W photos that are 2”x3” each and have a small white border around them (border is optional). Four of the photos I used are vertical, and the other 2 are horizontal.

Instructions
1. Cut a piece of 12”x12” Webster’s Pages patterned paper in half, making 2 pieces (Piece A and Piece B), each being 6”x12”.
2. Leave piece A at 6”x12”, but trim piece B down to 6”x9 ¼”.
3. Adhere both piece A and piece B onto the cardstock, aligning them so they create a rectangle across both pages (Piece A goes on the left hand page and will touch the right side of the cardstock’s edge, and piece B will go all the way across the right hand page). Place them slightly above centered, vertically.
4. Stitch around the outside edges of the adhered patterned paper (make sure not to stitch the inside edges).
5. Using light blue cardstock cut two pieces that are 1”x12” each. Ink the edges and adhere them across the bottom of both pieces of 12”x12” cardstock (about 1/2” from the bottom of the paper).
6. Cut 2 pieces of brown velvet rickrack that are each 12” in length. Adhere them down the middle of each light blue strip of cardstock (parallel to it) that are already on each page.
7. Position the 6 photos across the patterned paper rectangle that is already adhered to the cardstock. I positioned them in the following manner: Left to Right: Horizontal, Vertical, Vertical, Vertical, Horizontal and Vertical. Position them so the photos that are near the inside edges of the 2 pieces of cardstock are touching the edge. Build from there. You want the pictures to almost fill the entire space on the right hand page so you can use the leftover space on the left-hand page for your title. Adhere photos.
8. Using the Bo-Bunny chipboard included in the kit, detach the numbers 1,2,3,4,5 and 6. Adhere one number to each photo, left to right. Using the 7 Gypsies self-inking dotted stamp, stamp a dotted circle around each of the numbers. I didn’t stamp very hard so that only a partial circle was stamped.
9. Using light blue Heidi Swapp chipboard, spell out your title on the top-left hand corner of the patterned paper rectangle, above the photos. Adhere.
10. Detach two Bo-Bunny photo corner shapes from the package. Position them around the title, one at each end. Turn them sideways so they act as brackets. Adhere.
11. On the computer using “Teen” font (downloaded from the internet) at font size 12, journal to describe what each photo is and/or represents. In addition, journal a sub-title. Cut out strips of journaling, ink edges.
12. Adhere sub-title below the chipboard title that is already adhered. Detach and adhrere a chipboard BoBunny flower at the start of the sub-title for embellishment. Adhere description journaling on right-hand page below the patterned paper rectangle holding the pictures.
13. Ink the outside edges of both pieces of cardstock (make sure not to ink inside edges).
14. Using a pen, outline the cardstock with straight lines to add definition (do not outline the inside edges).
